Info you need to know.

No Boundaries International Art Residency (NBIAR) takes place on beautiful Bald Head Island, a barrier island on the southernmost coast of North Carolina.

After a short ferry ride over, domestic and international artists reside in private homes sprinkled across the island. A community studio will be available to all residents, as well as the opportunity to work individually and cooperatively outside. Bald Head Island features beautiful beaches as well as primordial maritime forests with native palms giant live oak trees. Artists will have access to golf carts for transportation on the island, as car traffic is restricted.

Once participating artists arrive in Wilmington, NC, NBIAR provides housing, ground transportation, and evening meals.  In addition, international artists receive a package of art supplies. Each attending artist contributes two completed works of art to NBIAR, and additional works may be selected by NBIAR for inclusion in the culminating exhibition at the Wilma W. Daniels Gallery on the campus of Cape Fear Community College.

NBIAR also provides outreach opportunities for artists to participate in our community through Acme Arts Studio, UNCW Art DepartmentCFCC Art Department, and DREAMS of Wilmington. Should you be interested in making a presentation or working with students, please let us know on the application form.  Stay connected with NBIAR and our alumni throughout the year on Facebook and Instagram.

"No Boundaries is an artist residency that takes place amidst the breathtaking expanses of land and water on Bald Head Island.  The island is infused with magic, the community is warm and welcoming, and many of the artists I met will be friends and fellow travellers for life. "
